What a turnout - 20,000 big-hearted walkers!
2026 Record-breaking Glasgow Kiltwalk raises £4.3 million and counting
Glasgow welcomes 20,000 big-hearted Kiltwalkers raising over £4million for 1,111 Scottish charities
Sunday 26th April 2026 - The streets of Glasgow and the West of Scotland were a sea of tartan this weekend as the world’s biggest Kiltwalk took place in the long-awaited spring sunshine.
The biggest charities like Beatson Cancer and Glasgow Children’s Hospital each had over 1,000 walkers on the route while countless small individual charities with a handful of good-hearted heroes set-out on Saturday & Sunday to match or exceed last year’s total of £4.5 million.
Exactly 10 years to the day since his first, Sir Tom Hunter told walkers at Glasgow Green and at Clydebank that a total of £62 million had been raised for over 4,400 charities.
£48 million of Kiltwalk kindness came from 240,000 walkers, £14 million from The Hunter Foundation.
And Tom shared his ambition for Kiltwalk to reach £100mil in the next 5 years to “be there” for Scotland’s third sector in these times of global and economic uncertainty.
Six thousand heroes walked from Clydebank to Balloch yesterday [Saturday] before another 14,000 heroes took to the streets and paths from Glasgow Green and Clydebank all the way to the finish line at Loch Lomond today [Sunday].
The Hunter Foundation underwrites Kiltwalk, ensuring that every penny the walkers raise goes to the charities of their choice, plus gift aid. It’s the lowest-cost platform for raising charity funds in the country.
Sir Tom Hunter, who led the walkers on both days, thanked everyone for their incredible Kiltwalk Kindness. Sir Tom Hunter said:
“You good folks got out of your beds this morning to be part of something that has become a fantastic movement for Scotland. You’re here because of someone you know, or a charity you care about, and you’ve chosen to help. That, in my opinion, is what makes Scotland the greatest wee country in the world.”

Thanks to Kiltwalk’s Headline sponsor, Arnold Clark, two deserving Kiltwalkers were stunned to discover their chosen charities would receive a massive £10,000 fundraising boost.
On Saturday, Chloe Houston fundraising for Cardiac Risk in Young (CRY), was delighted to win the cash prize that will see hundreds of young people screened to prevent fatal cardiac conditions. The second winner, Maria Cameron, won the £10k boost for Inverclyde’s Ardgowan Hospice who provided exceptional care for her Aunt and Uncle in their final weeks.
And one of the many Arnold Clark employees taking part is also going to be selected as a surprise winner for their charity. In total, an extra £30k bonus for charity. Russell Borrie, Chief Executive Officer at Arnold Clark, said:
“We’re incredibly proud to be celebrating our eleventh year as headline sponsor of the Kiltwalk.
"It’s an event that means so much to our employees and customers alike, giving them the chance to support the charities and causes closest to their hearts.
"We know the Glasgow Kiltwalk always brings an amazing atmosphere, with thousands of people coming together in a real show of community spirit, generosity and determination. This year’s is set to be even more exciting, with three lucky walkers each having the chance to win an extra £10,000 for their charities.
"Good luck to everyone taking part!".
Once again Kiltwalk is supporting Sir Chris Hoy’s Tour de 4 campaign established following his diagnosis with stage 4 prostate cancer. Over 770 people chose to walk in Glasgow for our greatest Olympian’s 5 chosen cancer charities.
Next up is Aberdeen Kiltwalk on Sunday 7 June, St Andrews to Dundee on Sunday 16 August and Edinburgh on Sunday 13 September. It’s still just £20 to walk thanks to The Hunter Foundation’s support.
