The 2020 Aberdeen Kiltwalk has been cancelled
In light of recent events we have made the difficult but well considered decision to cancel this year's Aberdeen Kiltwalk.
We have been closely monitoring the pandemic updates and after reviewing the latest Government updates on large gatherings, it is with heavy hearts that we inform our Kiltwalk community that we will be unable to stage the Aberdeen Kiltwalk in 2020. Ensuring the safety of our walkers and everyone involved in Kiltwalk is our top priority. The ongoing concerns over COVID 19 and reduced hours of daylight in late September and October make it impossible to reschedule with any degree of certainty this year.
You were the change
Sir Tom Hunter and The Kiltwalk Team would like to say a massive thank you to all Kiltwalkers who, despite the challenges, have continued to fundraise through the pandemic in support of their chosen charities.
In April and at the start of May, Aberdeen Kiltwalkers rallied for their charities raising an outstanding £154,000 then in an unprecedented move, Sir Tom Hunter decided to match their fundraising efforts pound for pound, meaning 159 North East charities benefited from a total of £308,000.
But it doesn’t end there …
Kiltwalk is here to support the incredible charities you support. The pandemic is having a devastating effect on them; they need us more than ever so in true Kiltwalk style, we have developed a way for our Aberdeen walkers to finally complete their Kiltwalk challenge.
Join us on the Virtual Kiltwalk Weekend 11th – 13th September.
Over the Virtual Weekend get that tartan on and take on any Kiltwalk Inspired challenge you wish from home. Go for a walk of any length you wish, cycle or even jump on a trampoline … it can be anything and The Hunter Foundation will top up any further funds you raise by 50%*.
* The 50% fundraising top up will be granted up to a limit of £5,000 per walker or donor across all 2020 Kiltwalk events. Subject to deadline and trustee approval.
Thanks to our Aberdeen event sponsors – they make everything possible!
The Royal Bank of Scotland's support helps to keep the Kiltwalk model sustainable and ensures that 150% of all fundraising goes back to charity.
