Centrestage

We are very excited that Centrestage are returning to Kiltwalk Glasgow to take over Pit Stop 3!

So, who are Centrestage…?

Centrestage believes that anyone regardless of age background or experience can gain life changing social benefits through the active participation in the arts, particularly music, drama, dance, visual, digital and culinary arts. Based in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Centrestage are a multi-award-winning charity with a vision “to build energetic and inclusive communities with the arts the heart.

As mental health, loneliness and isolation continue to grow across Ayrshire communities, Centrestage are championing everything fun, food and folk to bring people and communities together to make real positive social change. Their vast activities programme is currently delivered across seven sites throughout Ayrshire and their #oneteam welcome and work with over 2,500 participants each week.

The Kiltwalk is now one of the biggest fundraising days in the Centrestage calendar and their #oneteam, communities and partners look forward to taking part in The Kiltwalk in Glasgow every April.

Are you feeling keen? Walk with Centrestage in 2019.

It’s incredible to think that in 2016, 29 walkers supported Centrestage and last year over 358 folks spent Sunday the 29th of April walking with them across all three routes helping raise money for their Centrestage Bus. The Centrestage operations team are currently working with various partners to ensure they select the most appropriate bus that will support their communites across Ayrshire, enabling more folks to come together and enjoy everything #funfoodfolk.

Thanks to the generosity of their walkers last year, their total fundraising from the Kiltwalk was £18,058, and with the incredible 40% top up from The Hunter Foundation, overall funds raised were £25,281. These funds will help with the lease and operational costs of the Centrestage bus and the charity will continue to keep us all updated-on progress.

Now for 2019 and this year it’s all about ‘Feeling keen? Walk with Centrestage in 2019’ and they’d love you to join them. Challenge yourself to take on the Big Stroll, Mighty Stride or maybe the Wee Wander is more your thing – regardless, make this your year to join Centrestage and walk with your family, friends or colleagues and enjoy what is such a special day.

As a registered Scottish Charity every penny raised through our Kiltwalk campaign goes straight back into helping Centrestage deliver our activities to more people across Ayrshire every day.

Lee Mullen has taken part in The Kiltwalk twice with Centrestage, we asked Lee to sum up the day; “I did the 2017 and 2018 Kiltwalks in Balloch with Centrestage. Last year I raised over £100 for Centrestage. The part I like the most about the day is getting out and walking in the beautiful surroundings and meeting new folk.”

The Centrestage team loved hosting their Pit Stop in 2018 and they can't wait to be back this year.

Transport will be available for a small donation if required and you’ll also receive your free Centrestage t-shirt to wear on the day. Sponsorship forms and fundraising guides can also be provided on request.

For more information please call Centrestage on 01563 551505 and ask for either Frank or Anne, their Kiltwalk ambassadors who’ll be more than happy to help.
