What should I take with me?

We always recommend taking a supply of water and snacks to keep you going on your walk. Depending on the weather forecast, you may consider wearing layers and packing a waterproof jacket. If you are intending on doing a longer walk, make sure that you wear comfortable worn-in shoes and carry blister packs.

If you are intending on completing your challenge on your own, always make sure that a family member or friend knows your route and when you are walking. We always advise carrying a mobile phone should you need help.

2020 Kiltwalker Information - Why are the Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh events cancelled?

Ensuring the safety of our walkers and everyone involved in Kiltwalk is our top priority. Factors surrounding the COVID19 outbreak and a closing window of available dates to reschedule, due to reduced hours of daylight in late 2020, makes it impossible to reschedule our events.

Does my registration for the Glasgow, Aberdeen or Edinburgh Kiltwalk entitle me to take part in the Virtual event?

Yes. All Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh Kiltwalkers are automatically entered into the Virtual Kiltwalk. So no extra costs or registration form, you’re already set up to take part. All you need to do is complete your Virtual Challenge and continue fundraising if you wish.

You will soon receive your Virtual Support pack from us by email that will include many resources to support your fundraising and bring your virtual challenge to life. It includes Virtual Kiltwalk Challenge bibs, Event Signage, Social Stickers, family activities and much more.

Will I receive the 50% fundraising top up if I take part in the Virtual event?

Yes all Virtual participants will receive the 50% top up from The Hunter Foundation on their fundraising. The only exception to this are those who have already exceeded the £5000 per walker or donor fundraising limit within the current fundraising year (1st January – 21st September). All fundraising top ups are subject to deadline and Trustee approval.

Can I change my distance?

Yes, you can alter your distance to suit you and your local area. The important thing is to keep the fundraising going for your chosen charity. When selecting your route, please adhere to the latest Government and social distancing guidelines.

I’m unable to take part in the Virtual Kiltwalk, what are my options?

You can complete the Virtual challenge any time on the run up to the 11th – 13th September but if that doesn’t suit you, please contact the Kiltwalk team at contactus@thekiltwalk.co.uk to find out more information about your options.

Can I get a refund?

We would love you to continue fundraising for your chosen charity on the Virtual Kiltwalk but appreciate that option may not suit you. If you were signed up for the 2020 Glasgow, Aberdeen or Edinburgh Kiltwalk, please contact the Kiltwalk team at contactus@thekiltwalk.co.uk to find out more information about your options.

How will my supporters data appear in my dashboard?

Anyone signed up to the Edinburgh event will show under the Edinburgh Kiltwalk event on your dashboard. Do our Glasgow/Aberdeen supporters need a new Everyday Hero fundraising page?

No, their existing page will still be active but branding will be changed to the Virtual Kiltwalk Weekend. This means the supporter does not need to activate anything to take part – they are all ready to go!
