Team Jak

We are very excited to have Team Jak on board as Aberdeen Pit Stop Partners for the second year in a row! Our walkers all appreciated the support they got from Team Jak in 2017 and we know this year will be no different.

Jak’s Vision

Jak’s vision was to create a charity that would provide practical, social and emotional support to children and young people with cancer and related illnesses, their families, friends and those bereaved.

Team Jak  now support over 100 families throughout Scotland and provide outreach services via hospitals.

They couldn’t achieve this without the generous people who donate towards the cause and take part in sponsored events like The Kiltwalk.

Last year Team Jak made their debut supporting and encouraging thousands of walkers supporting lots of fabulous Scottish Charities to help those in need.   The sun was shining and a great day was had by all.

Hazel McLinden from Team Jak said: “We are delighted to be returning, and look forward to helping you refuel and be entertained during your walk. TJ will be there again with his Hi-5’s spurring you along.
“We were well received last year and made to feel very welcome by the people of Aberdeen, the event certainly raised awareness of our cause and the monies raised through the Aberdeen Kiktwalk have helped us to reach over 25 families affected by childhood cancer and provide music therapy , goody bags and outreach services to children in hospital in Aberdeen.”

Heading up The Drumoak Daunderers and raising funds for Team Jak this year is Gillian McPetrie. Gillian’s son James was diagnosed with a malignant tumour in 2016 -Medullablastoma.

You can read their story here.

Gillian and her team will be joined by fellow Team Jak Kiltwalkers, Graeme Dorrance and friends, walking for the Foundation under the name Team Sam -in memory of his little boy Sam who lost his fight age 6 years in 2016. Graeme and his partner Tanya have been instrumental in the presence of Team Jak in Aberdeen and help with events and fundraising.
If you feel that you could walk 5,13 or 26 miles to help Teak Jak Foundation please get in touch With who will organise a t-shirt and water bottle as a small token of their appreciation.

Please also remember that due to the generosity of Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation, Team Jak will receive an additional 40% of your donations. Another reason to walk and choose Team Jak as your chosen charity.
