Team Jak

We are very excited to have Team Jak on board as Edinburgh Pit Stop Partners for the third year in a row! Our walkers all appreciated the support they got from Team Jak in 2017/18 and we know this year will be no different.

Hazel McLinden from Team Jak said: “We are delighted to be returning to Pitstop 3 at Portobello for the Edinburgh Kiltwalk again this year, it is always a fantastic atmosphere and it is a privilege to support so many people walking for so many fabulous charities.

“We are currently still looking for more team members to make this Team Jak’s biggest Kiltwalk yet – if you fancy joining us, please contact”

Jak’s Vision

Jak’s vision was to create a charity that would provide practical, social and emotional support to children and young people with cancer and related illnesses, their families, friends and those bereaved.

Team Jak  now support over 160 families throughout Scotland and provide outreach services via hospitals.

They couldn’t achieve this without the generous people who donate towards the cause and take part in events like The Kiltwalk.

We were delighted to open our Jak’s Den mark 2 at the end of June 2019, which will allow us to support so many more families living with childhood cancer.

Wee Wander – Team Jak are delighted to have over 20 walking in this walk and proud that many of their inspirational families are walking to not only help raise funds but to raise much needed awareness of childhood cancer.

Big Stroll – Leading out Team Jak’s Big Stroll team is Jak’s inspirational mum Allison Barr, Allison has been so busy leading the opening of the new Jak’s Den she hasn’t had much time for training – however, she will not let that phase her and is looking forward to proudly crossing the finish line.

Mighty Stride – Like the Kiltwalk, Team Jak have been supported by many companies this year and have teams walking from Royal Bank of Scotland, Heineken as well as volunteers, families and friends of Team Jak.

Team Jak Treasurer David McGechie along with one of their stalwart volunteers, Nicola Hardy and warrior mum Laura Allen are seasoned Kiltwalk veterans – David takes on his fourth Kiltwalk in Edinburgh, whilst Nicola tackles her third and Laura is taking part in her third  Mighty stride having also completed the Big Stroll in Dundee – an amazing effort.

Please look out for Team Jak and their volunteers at Pitstop 3 on Portobello Promenade, where they will be on hand with Haribo, Hugs and Hi-5’s from TJ! They will also have entertainment provided by Star harmonies, Livingston Ukelele band and Grandad Walter on the accordion!

If you feel that you could walk 5,13 or 26 miles to help Teak Jak Foundation please get in touch With who will organise a t-shirt and water bottle as a small token of their appreciation.

Please also remember that due to the generosity of Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation, Team Jak will receive an additional 40% of your donations. Another reason to walk and choose Team Jak as your chosen charity.
