Finding Your Feet

Founded by Cor Hutton, Finding Your Feet supports families affected by amputation or limb difference through a range of sporting initiatives and social inclusion projects.

Finding Your Feet will be joining us for their first time as Pit Stop Partners!

“I contracted sepsis and following that I lost my right leg. I was lost, battling mental health issues and struggling with substance abuse. Luckily, I discovered Finding Your Feet. They showed me that life as an amputee can be even better than before. They’ve helped save my life.

FYF have groups in Glasgow, Dundee, Fife, Aberdeen, Ayrshire and Inverness, and online support groups designed to support amputees regardless of location. They campaign to ensure amputees are treated fairly and are well represented within society.

Isolation is a huge problem for many amputees.  It has been proven that quality of life and even life expectancy is greatly reduced without social inclusion, with as many as 30% of vascular amputees not surviving to one-year post amputation. FYF run over 50 clubs per month in Scotland to address this issue. These include swimming, climbing, skiing, Pilates, gardening and more. They organise a twice-monthly get together in Glasgow where amputees make friends and share advice in a relaxed and safe environment.

I’ve regained my confidence and I feel back in control. Most of all, they’ve given my kids their dad back.

FYF rely on fabulous fundraisers to keep everything they do for amputees free of charge. By supporting the charity, you’re improving the lives of amputees, helping them get fitter and ensuring there is emotional support available. If you would like to find out more, visit their website.
