CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland)

Take on a Kiltwalk for CHAS and help them be there for families across Scotland who face the unthinkable reality that their child will die before them.

No strangers to the Kiltwak, Team CHAS are taking over Pit Stop 4 in Glasgow!

Each week in Scotland, three children die because they have a life-shortening condition. Right now CHAS can only reach one of those families to provide the support they deserve. They are determined to reach every family who needs them and with your support, they can. By taking on the Kiltwalk, you will help CHAS to provide vital care to families during some of their most challenging times.

For the past 18 months, Dave and Charlotte James-Bruce from Aberdeenshire have been receiving regular visits from the dedicated CHAS at Home team based in Aberdeen and visiting Rachel House for respite care.

Their children, Findlay, nine, and Iona, seven, both have an extremely rare chromosome duplication condition which causes several health issues.

The family particularly look forward to their visits to Rachel House, which is a ‘home from home’ for families, with a range of facilities, including a hydrotherapy room, large accessible garden and lots of areas for relaxing and fun.

Mum Charlotte says: “When you hear the word ‘hospice’, you don’t know what to think but when we first visited Rachel House, we discovered what a fantastic place it is – its fun and not depressing at all.

You can hear more about the James-Bruce family’s experience of CHAS in this brilliant video:

It’s thanks toi ncredible people like our Kiltwalkers that we can support families in this way and help them to create memories that will last a lifetime.
