The Kiltwalk concluded its 2012 tour of Scotland, visiting “Scotland’s birthplace” for what we expected to be a bracing 26 mile walk along the North Sea coast.

110 people from the Angus and Dundee area and further afield joined us on what turned out to be a beautiful sunny day and a lovely way to end the Kiltwalk year.

Starting off with the fantastic hospitality of Glynis and the team at Montrose FC and a send off by MSP Nigel Don, the route was lovely, stunning in places as we hugged the coastline past Lunan Bay, Arbroath's cliffs and then the beach path to Carnoustie.

And at the same time our Wee Walkers were doing a loop of Carnoustie including a picnic at Easthaven.

And we capped off the day with arousing applause for Ian Ross (below), our hero for the day who completed the last few miles in extreme pain but was determined to complete the challenge and get a hug from his grandchildren.
