The biggest Kiltwalk of the year returns for 2018!

How do we follow the biggest ever Kiltwalk? By doing it all over again of course!

Last year over 7,000 Kiltwalkers Strode, Strolled and Wandered across Glasgow and raised over one million pounds for their chosen charities and causes.

All three usual Glasgow Kiltwalk distances will return, choose from a Mighty Stride (approx. 23 miles), a Big Stroll (approx. 14 miles) or the Wee Wander (approx. 6 miles)

Our Walks

The Glasgow event is the biggest Kiltwalk of the year and takes place on Sunday 29 April 2018 with three separate walks, The Mighty Stride which is a smidge under 24 miles, The Big Stroll which is just under 15 miles in length and The Wee Wander which is 3 laps of Balloch Country Park, comprising a total of just over 6 miles and perfect for the whole family and even the dog!

The Mighty Stride once again starts from Glasgow Green this year with two start times at 09:00am, 09:30am  and 10:00am when walkers will be released in batches for road safety and pavement congestion reasons, so please adhere to your allotted arrival time for everyone’s safety.

Once underway, our walkers will make their way from the picturesque setting of Glasgow Green and then follow the Clyde passing the iconic sights of the Finnieston Crane, the Hydro and the Riverside Museum, where Mighty Striders will find Pit Stop 1.

After a quick break, the route moves on through Yoker and Pit Stop 2, onto the cycle path towards Clydebank, where the Big Strollers will get in on the action.

From there on, things begin to get a bit more scenic as the route follows the Forth and Clyde Canal, towards Pit Stop 4 at Bowling, which is an ideal spot to take in the Clyde and enjoy a well-earned break.

As the route continues to move away from the City and towards Dumbarton Town Centre, we cross the River Leven and arrive at Pit Stop 5, Dalreaoch, a long term favourite stop amongst the Kiltwalk faithful.

Next up is the most picturesque area of the walk as we arrive at the Vale of Leven, where walkers will find Pit Stop 6 at Millburn Park, with the finish line nearly in site!

Finally we arrive at the home straight towards the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond and the finish line at Moss O Balloch Park. The Wee Wander starts and finishes at Moss O Balloch Park. Here you’ll find a warm welcome from our Kilties, a hot meal, the bar, as well as all the fun and entertainment that the Kiltwalk Village has to offer.

Last year saw 7,400 walkers complete the Glasgow Kiltwalk in the sunshine; let’s hope 2018 can be even bigger and better and that the sun shines once again!
