Choosing your walk

The Dundee event takes place on Sunday 19 August 2018 with three separate walks, The Mighty Stride which is a smidge under twenty five miles, The Big Stroll which is eleven miles in length and The Wee Wander which is just over 6 miles.
The Mighty Stride starts once again at 0900hrs in St Andrews when walkers will be released in batches at intervals for road safety and pavement congestion reasons, so please adhere to your allotted arrival time for everyone’s safety.
Once underway the walkers will cross the famous Old Course onto the Fife Coastal Path towards Guardbridge. The coastal path continues through Leuchars before entering the Tentsmuir National Reserve. The route carries on north through the forest making its way to Tayport where the Big Stroll starts before continuing on The Tay Bridge Kiosk in Newport on Tay. Then it’s over the bridge into Dundee where the Wee Wander starts near to Discovery Point, when all of our walkers are now on the green circular route heading towards the docks. We head back to the shore to follow the Tay to Broughty Castle and our last Pit Stop, then it’s a ‘gentle’ stroll to the finish line at Monifieth Beach.
Last year saw nearly 1,800 walkers complete the Dundee Kiltwalk in the sunshine and everyone seemed to have had a great time; let’s hope 2018 can be even bigger and better and that the sun shines!

Our Walks

Our Mighty Striders set off from stunning St Andrews and cross the iconic Old Course and head onto the Links past the famous Old Course Hotel and then on to the Fife Coastal Path.  Next they arrive at their first chance to have a break and take in the scenery at Pit Stop 1, opposite the old Eden Mill.

The picturesque coastal path continues through Leuchars on minor roads before entering the Tentsmuir National Reserve, where Pit Stop 2 can be found at the beach car park.

The route carries on north and moves through the forest as we make our way towards Tayport, where the Big Strollers join the fun at Pit Stop 3.

Next stop, a chance for some fantastic photographs at Pit Stop 4, found at The Tay Bridge Kiosk in Newport on Tay.

Then it’s over the bridge and into Dundee itself, where the Wee Wander starts at the HMS Unicorn.

With all of our walkers now taking Big Steps, the route heads towards the docks where Pit Stop 5 is located.

We then head back to the shore, following the Tay to our last Pit Stop at the magnificent Broughty Castle.

Finally its a gentle jaunt to the finish line at Monifieth Beach where a hot meal, a few drinks and a night of entertainment will be waiting on all of our walkers.
