The Wee Wander
Miles: 8

As our walks mainly stick to existing footpaths, parks and natural walking routes, we sometimes need to alter the lengths of our walks to suit. This is the reason why we have a slightly longer Wee Wander on this route. The Wee Wander starts at 12pm and registration is open from 11am.

The Aberdeen event takes place this year on Sunday 5th June. As our walks mainly stick to existing footpaths, parks and natural walking routes, we sometimes need to alter the lengths of our walks to suit. This is the reason why we have a slightly longer Wee Wander in Aberdeen.

If you’re feeling up to the challenge, the Mighty Stride (9am Start – Registration Open at 8am) at just under 26 miles would have you setting off from Duthie Park bright and early at 9am. As you head out of the City Centre passing through Peterculter, you head for the glorious Aberdeenshire countryside. The Aberdeen walk offers one of the most beautiful scenic routes. Passing the Royal Deeside Railway, the majority of the remaining route follows the banks of the River Dee.

If you don’t fancy an entire Mighty Stride and don’t think a Wee Wander is enough, choose to go on a 15 mile Big Stroll. The Big Stroll (11am Start – Registration Open at 10am) sets off from Drum Oak and ends at the same site as our other two walks.

Stopping off at the King George V Park in Banchory, this is where the 8-and-a-bit mile Wee Wander (12pm Start – Registration Open at 11am) joins the route. Across the road and through the archway into Banchory Forest, this leg of the journey will expose you to all the amazing sounds of the outdoors. A final climb to the Shooting Green, then it’s all downhill on the final stretch, getting you into Potarch in time for the celebrations!
