In 2017, 1,800 walkers supported their choice of charities at our biggest ever Kiltwalk in Aberdeen and we can’t wait to do it all over again in the City and ‘Shire! This time we’re turning things upside down…

After hearing the feedback from our Kiltwalk Heroes who have walked before in Aberdeen, we have decided to flip the Aberdeen route for the first time. This means that the Mighty Stride, Big Stroll and Wee Wander set off from the stunning Aberdeen countryside and head towards Aberdeen City Centre for a Kiltwalk party!

Check out highlights of Kiltwalk Aberdeen 2017 below and find out more about what to expect from the Granite City and the incredible, picturesque surroundings of sunny Aberdeenshire.

Our Walks

We have a brand new Kiltwalk Aberdeen route! For the first time ever, we have reversed the route which we think will make the Aberdeen Kiltwalk better than ever! Reversing the route means we still get to enjoy the stunning surroundings of the Aberdeen countryside and provide a Kiltwalk challenge for Mighty Striders and Big Strollers while making the overall experience far more enjoyable.

This means the Mighty Stride will be setting off from Potarch Green at 9am and will end at Duthie Park, still coming in at 26 miles – a full walking marathon.

The Big Stroll is just under 15 miles and now begins at Milton Mark, Crathes at 11am.

And the Wee Wander is now much more managable at just under 5 miles and sets off from Camphill Rudolph Steiner School at 12pm. People who have taken on the Wee Wander in Aberdeen before will be delighted to hear that they no longer have to face the climb from Banchory to Potarch!

Once underway from the picturesque starting point at Potarch, the Mighty Striders will make their way along Military Road, to Shooting Greens. Although the route starts with a bit of a climb, veteran walkers will known that what goes up, must come down! The route follows the woodland walkway through the Banchory Forest, where experienced Kiltwalkers will get to enjoy the walk through the Forest heading downhill for the first time.

We then head alongside the River Dee coming out at King George V Park, Banchory. The route will continue to Milton Park, Crathes where the Big Strollers get in on the action.

With the Big Stroll and Mighty Stride both underway, the route continues through the Aberdeenshire countryside before arriving at Drumoak Playing fields and continuing through Howie Lane, Peterculter where the Wee Wander begins at Cults.

The final 7 miles of the walk takes us to West Cults Road, Cults with the walk reaching its conclusion at Duthie Park.

We are sure that reversing the Aberdeen route will be a huge improvement on what was already one of our favourite events and we are already looking forward to seeing our Kiltwalk Heroes take on the brand new Kiltwalk Aberdeen Route!
