Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity

Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Chrity support the Royal Hospital for sick shildren in Edinburgh and this year will be taking over Pit Stop 3 at Portobello in Edinburgh.

Formerly known as The Sick Kids Friends Foundation, Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity (ECHC) is a grant-giving organisation, which distributes around £1.5m per year at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children hospital in Edinburgh and other children and young people’s community healthcare settings.

ECHC believe that nothing should get in the way of being a child. ECHC exist to transform the experiences of children and young people in hospital so they can be a child first and a patient second.

As a result of what ECHC do:

  • Children and young people’s lives are less interrupted by illness.
  • Children and young people are less scared of hospital and have a positive experience.
  • Children and young people’s families are better supported and comforted.
  • Children and young people have an improved experience of healthcare in their community.

The charity has awarded grants which range in value from a few pounds to a £500,000 award to provide a state-of-the-art gamma camera for the hospital.  By the time the new children’s hospital opens at Little France early 2018, ECHC will have contributed £3 million towards the art and therapeutic design, making the hospital a welcoming, fun, relaxing space for children and their families.

The work ECHC do is only made possible by the generosity of our supporters and their team are really excited to be involved in this year’s Kiltwalk. You can support SKFF and in turn, their team look forward to supporting you in your fundraising, and welcoming you to their Pit Stop in Edinburgh. 110% of everything you raise will go to supporting ECHC.
